Heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh has claimed 56 lives and left more than a thousand houses damaged, according to official figures released on Tuesday.
Heavy monsoon showers swept across several districts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, pushing the death toll to 56 as per the state disaster management authority. The floods also rendered 1,021 houses uninhabitable, displacing families in both rural and urban areas.
Rescue teams from the police, fire services and the National Disaster Response Force were deployed to the worst‑hit zones, using boats and high‑water vehicles to evacuate stranded residents. Relief camps have been set up, providing food, water and medical aid to those affected.
