Heavy rains that swept through Chhattisgarh last week led to widespread flooding and landslides in several districts. The deluge disrupted transportation, damaged crops, and forced many residents to evacuate their homes.
The state’s Chief Minister, Sai, confirmed that eight people lost their lives while roughly 23,000 individuals were affected by the floods. Victims included families displaced from low‑lying areas and those who suffered property damage.
In response, state authorities have deployed emergency teams, set up relief camps, and distributed food and medical supplies to the hardest hit communities. The government has also requested additional resources from the central government to accelerate recovery efforts.
