The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in Assam and Jharkhand, urging residents to stay alert.
The India Meteorological Department issued a weather bulletin on Thursday warning of heavy rains across Assam and Jharkhand over the next 48 hours.
The system, a low‑pressure area moving eastward from the Bay of Bengal, is expected to dump between 50 and 100 millimetres of rain in several districts, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides.
State disaster management authorities have been instructed to mobilise emergency response teams, clear drainage channels and advise the public to avoid low‑lying areas and riverbanks.
While the focus remains on Assam and Jharkhand, neighbouring Odisha and Chhattisgarh have been placed under orange alerts, signalling heightened vigilance for possible flooding.
