The state’s weather department has issued a heavy rain warning for 13 districts, with Jabalpur among them, as a strong weather system is expected to affect half of Madhya Pradesh for the next two days.
The Madhya Pradesh Meteorological Department has placed a heavy rain alert on 13 districts, including Jabalpur, after detecting a vigorous weather system moving across the state. The system is projected to remain active for the next 48 hours, covering roughly half of Madhya Pradesh.
Authorities have warned residents to stay alert for sudden downpours, flash floods and water‑logging, especially in low‑lying areas and along riverbanks. Local officials have instructed municipal bodies to clear drainage channels and to be ready for emergency response.
The department will issue hourly updates and has advised commuters to avoid non‑essential travel in affected zones. Farmers have been told to protect crops and livestock from potential damage, while schools and businesses may suspend operations if conditions worsen.
