The state government warned of continuous heavy rain through Sept 3, leading to the blockage of 98 roads across Himachal Pradesh.
The Himachal Pradesh Meteorological Department has issued an advisory that heavy rainfall will persist in the state until September 3. The warning follows a series of low‑pressure systems moving across the western Himalayas, bringing intense downpours to valleys and hilltops alike.
Authorities have reported that 98 state and district roads are currently impassable due to landslides, waterlogging and debris. Emergency teams have been deployed to clear critical routes and to assist motorists stranded on mountain passes.
The state disaster management cell has urged residents to avoid non‑essential travel, secure loose objects, and stay updated through official bulletins. Relief camps are being prepared in vulnerable districts to accommodate any displaced families.
While the forecast predicts the rain will gradually ease after September 3, officials caution that residual water levels may keep some routes closed for several more days.
