A severe weather system brought intense rainfall and gusty winds to Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue alerts for 25 states.

A low‑pressure system moving across northern India unleashed heavy rain and strong gusts over Delhi and the National Capital Region on Monday, disrupting traffic and causing localized waterlogging in several neighborhoods. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded rainfall totals exceeding 50 mm in parts of the city within a few hours, with wind speeds reaching up to 45 km/h.

Local authorities activated emergency response teams, clearing clogged drains and directing commuters to avoid flooded routes. The Delhi Police issued advisories for motorists to exercise caution, while the Delhi Municipal Corporation deployed additional manpower to manage the sudden surge of water on streets.

In addition to the capital region, the IMD extended weather alerts to 25 states, warning of possible heavy showers and strong winds in the coming days. Residents in the affected states have been urged to stay indoors during peak periods, secure loose objects, and follow updates from official channels.
