The meteorological department has issued a weather alert as heavy rain and thunderstorms sweep across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, causing disruptions.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar after a system of low pressure brought intense rainfall and thunderstorms to the region. Forecasts indicate that the downpours will continue through the next 24 hours, with the potential for localized flooding in low‑lying areas.
Authorities have warned residents to avoid unnecessary travel, especially on highways and rural roads that are prone to waterlogging. Rail and bus services in affected districts may experience delays or cancellations as a precautionary measure.
Emergency response teams have been placed on standby to assist with any rescue operations, and local officials have urged people to stay indoors, secure loose objects, and follow updates from official channels.
The IMD advises that the weather system will gradually weaken by the weekend, but residents should remain vigilant as residual showers could persist.
