Strong winds and rain with hail fell on Narsinghpur’s Gadarwara area on Wednesday evening, threatening the ongoing soybean and urad harvest.
A sudden downpour accompanied by strong gusts struck the Gadarwara sub‑division of Narsinghpur district on Wednesday evening. Meteorological reports indicated localized hailstones in the villages of Kekra, Bareli and Barhata.
The hail, described as small to medium‑sized, fell on fields that were in the middle of soybean and urad bean harvesting. Farmers reported that the rain cut the standing crops, leaving them vulnerable to further damage.
Agricultural officials warned that the combined effect of wind, rain and hail could lead to significant yield losses, especially as the crops were near the final stage of maturity. Preliminary assessments suggest that a considerable portion of the harvested area may require re‑planting or could see reduced marketable produce.
Local farmer groups have appealed for immediate assistance, urging the state agriculture department to dispatch relief teams and provide guidance on post‑storm crop management.
