The state meteorological department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall across 28 districts, with the Mankadini and Narmada rivers rising and gates of the Bargi‑Kutni dams opened.
The Madhya Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has issued a heavy to very heavy rain alert covering 28 districts as the monsoon intensifies. Meteorological data indicate that the Mankadini and Narmada rivers are experiencing rapid rise in water levels, prompting authorities to release water from the Bargi and Kutni reservoirs by opening their gates. So far, the state has recorded 29.2 inches of rainfall, which is about 8% below the long‑term average for this period. Officials have urged residents in the affected districts to remain vigilant, avoid low‑lying areas, and cooperate with emergency teams. Continuous monitoring will be maintained, and further advisories will be issued if the situation worsens.
