Heavy rain in the surrounding hills has led to flooding in several areas of Agartala, prompting authorities to intensify rescue operations.
Heavy rainfall over the hills surrounding Tripura's capital has caused water levels to rise sharply, inundating low‑lying neighborhoods in Agartala. Streets in several wards turned into temporary streams, disrupting normal traffic and daily activities.
District administration officials confirmed that rescue teams, including personnel from the State Disaster Management Force and the National Disaster Response Force, have been deployed to the worst‑hit zones. Boats, inflatable rafts and high‑water vehicles are being used to evacuate residents from flooded homes and to transport essential supplies.
Local authorities have urged citizens to avoid wading through waterlogged areas and to cooperate with rescue crews. Preliminary assessments indicate damage to property and infrastructure, but no official casualty figures have been released yet.
