Haryana villager Annu Kataria cracks HCS rank 95 after seven exam setbacks

Annu Kataria, a resident of a small village in Haryana, has emerged among the top candidates in the recent Haryana Civil Services (HCS) examination, securing the 95th position. The achievement follows a series of setbacks; Kataria attempted seven different competitive examinations, including state and national level tests, but did not clear any until this year. Determined to succeed, she intensified her preparation, focusing on the HCS syllabus and seeking guidance from mentors and coaching centres in the state capital. Her rank places her in the coveted group of candidates eligible for selection into the Haryana administrative services, a milestone that is expected to inspire other aspirants from rural backgrounds. Officials from the Haryana Public Service Commission praised her perseverance, noting that such stories highlight the importance of resilience in the highly competitive civil service arena.
