Organic cultivators in Haryana have appealed to state authorities for dedicated testing laboratories to validate natural farming practices.
A coalition of organic farmers across Haryana has formally requested the state government to set up dedicated testing laboratories for natural farming produce. The farmers argue that certified testing facilities are essential to verify the authenticity of organic claims and to gain consumer trust.
Currently, the absence of such labs forces growers to rely on distant private labs, increasing costs and delaying market entry. By having government‑run facilities nearby, producers hope to reduce expenses, speed up certification, and qualify for existing organic subsidies.
The Haryana Department of Agriculture acknowledged the appeal, stating that it is reviewing the proposal and exploring partnerships with existing research institutions to establish the required infrastructure.
