The Haryana government announced a new digital platform to monitor road conditions and a dedicated research fund as part of its recent governance drive.
New Delhi, Sept 29 — The Haryana state administration unveiled a dual initiative aimed at modernising infrastructure oversight and encouraging scientific inquiry. The move comes under a broader governance agenda announced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar this week.
The first component is a digital road‑monitoring system that will use sensors, satellite imagery and a centralized dashboard to track the condition of highways and rural roads in real time. Data collected will be fed to the Public Works Department, enabling quicker repairs and better allocation of maintenance budgets.
Alongside the monitoring platform, the government has earmarked a research fund of several crore rupees to support studies on road safety, traffic management and sustainable construction practices. Universities and private research bodies will be invited to submit proposals, with grants awarded on merit and relevance to state priorities.
Officials say the combined approach is expected to reduce pothole‑related accidents, improve commuter experience and position Haryana as a test‑bed for smart‑city solutions in northern India.
