Haryana FDA Initiates Statewide Inspection of Protein Powders and Energy Drinks

The Haryana Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a statewide drive to inspect the quality of protein powders and energy drinks sold across the region. The initiative seeks to ensure that these popular supplements meet safety standards and protect consumers from adulterated or substandard products.
Inspectors will visit manufacturers, distributors and retail outlets, collect samples and test them for contaminants, labeling accuracy and nutrient content. The move follows growing concerns over unregulated supplements and reports of health issues linked to low‑quality products.
The FDA has urged consumers to verify batch numbers and expiry dates and to report any adverse effects. Test results will be posted on the department’s website, and firms that fail to comply may face penalties such as product recalls or license suspension.
The state government has allocated additional resources for laboratory testing and staff training, signalling a broader effort to tighten food‑safety regulations in Haryana.
