The Haryana chief secretary has called for accelerated land acquisition to speed up the Gurugram metro project.

Gurugram, Haryana – The chief secretary of Haryana has formally urged the state government to fast‑track the acquisition of land required for the expansion of the Gurugram metro network. In a recent meeting with senior officials, he highlighted that delays in securing parcels of land are hampering the project’s timeline and escalating costs.
He emphasized that a streamlined acquisition process, backed by clear policy directives, is essential to keep the metro’s construction on schedule and to meet the growing commuter demand in the city’s rapidly expanding suburbs.
The chief secretary also directed relevant departments to coordinate with local authorities and private landowners to resolve pending disputes and to ensure that compensation mechanisms are transparent and swift. The move is seen as part of the state’s broader push to improve urban mobility ahead of upcoming economic initiatives.
Stakeholders are expected to submit a detailed action plan within the next two weeks, after which the state cabinet may approve the fast‑track measures.
The Gurugram metro, a key component of the National Capital Region’s public‑transport network, aims to connect major commercial hubs and reduce traffic congestion across the city.
