Haryana CEO Reports 16% of Voters Missing, Relocated or Deceased in SIR

The Haryana Chief Electoral Officer announced that 16% of registered voters were found absent, shifted or deceased during the Supplementary Inspection Report.

The Haryana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) released findings from the latest Supplementary Inspection Report (SIR), indicating that 16% of voters in the state were either absent, had moved, or were deceased.

The report, which covers the voter rolls updated in 2023, highlights a significant discrepancy in the electoral register. Officials noted that a large number of names could not be verified due to lack of recent address confirmation or confirmed death.

Election authorities say the issue could affect the accuracy of voter turnout calculations and may necessitate a fresh round of voter verification in affected districts.

The CEO has urged the Election Commission to consider a comprehensive audit and to provide additional resources for updating voter records before the next general elections.
