Meteorological authorities warn of hailstorms and heavy rainfall across North India on Wednesday, urging residents to take precautions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather alert for North India, predicting hailstorms and heavy rainfall on Wednesday. The forecast covers the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with temperatures expected to drop to the mid‑20s Celsius.
Meteorologists advise that the hail could cause damage to crops and vehicles, and that heavy showers may lead to localized flooding. Residents are urged to secure loose objects outdoors and to avoid traveling on roads prone to waterlogging.
Local authorities in several districts have begun setting up emergency response teams and have advised schools to remain closed if conditions worsen. The IMD will continue to monitor the situation and update the public as the storm develops.
