Hailstorm and Heavy Rain Batter Haridwar, Vehicles and Property Suffer Damage

A sudden bout of heavy rain combined with a hailstorm hit Haridwar on Thursday, according to reports from local authorities and NDTV. Meteorological officials said the weather system moved in rapidly, bringing intense downpours and hailstones that battered the city within a short span.

The unexpected weather caused visible damage to parked and moving vehicles, with many cars and two-wheelers dented or having broken windshields. Residential and commercial properties also reported roof leaks, broken windows, and waterlogged interiors as the hail accumulated on streets and rooftops.

Local police and municipal crews were dispatched to clear blocked roads and assist affected residents. Power supply interruptions were reported in a few neighbourhoods, and emergency services urged citizens to avoid non-essential travel until the situation stabilises. Relief measures, including temporary shelters and assistance for damaged property, are being coordinated by the Uttarakhand disaster management authority.
