Heavy hail fell in Jaipur, damaging vehicles, roofs and trees, authorities urge caution.
Heavy hailstones fell over Jaipur on Tuesday, causing widespread damage to vehicles, rooftops and trees across the city. The Ministry of Civil Aviation reported that several aircraft at Jaipur International Airport were grounded for safety checks.
Local authorities advised residents to stay indoors and secure loose items. Damage to residential and commercial properties was reported in several neighbourhoods, with some roofs partially collapsed.
The Rajasthan State Disaster Management Authority has dispatched teams to assess the extent of the damage and to provide relief to affected households. Meteorological officials warned that the hailstorm could recur if the weather conditions remain unstable.
Residents who experienced the hailstorm reported that the hailstones were as large as golf balls, causing significant damage to cars and windows. The city’s traffic police are monitoring the situation as roads become slick and visibility decreases.
