Air quality in Delhi's National Capital Region fell to the moderate category on Thursday, with Gurugram showing the sharpest decline before the cold weather set in.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) for the National Capital Region (NCR) was recorded as moderate on Thursday, according to the latest readings from the Central Pollution Control Board.
Gurugram, a major satellite city of Delhi, posted the highest pollutant levels, pushing its AQI into the moderate band despite the approaching winter season that usually brings cleaner air.
Health officials warned that the deteriorating air could aggravate respiratory conditions, urging vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and those with asthma to limit outdoor exposure.
The Delhi government has instructed continuous monitoring and has announced that additional anti‑smog measures, including restrictions on construction dust and vehicular emissions, will be enforced until the air quality improves.
