Gurnoor Barad shines as India beats New Zealand in 2nd ODI, claims four wickets

In the second One-Day International between India and New Zealand, fast bowler Gurnoor Barad delivered a decisive spell, finishing with four wickets for just 30 runs. His breakthrough came early in the innings, removing key New Zealand batsmen and curbing the opposition's scoring rate.

Barad's disciplined line and length forced the Kiwis into a defensive posture, and his wicket-taking burst shifted the momentum firmly in India's favour. The bowler's economy of 4.28 runs per over helped restrict New Zealand to a sub‑par total, setting the stage for a comfortable chase.

Both captain Rohit Sharma and batting stalwart Virat Kohli praised Barad's performance in post‑match interviews, highlighting his composure under pressure. Barad also revealed that he had been modelling his variations after senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah, crediting the senior bowler for the tactical insights that paid off on the field.

India's victory narrows the series gap, keeping the contest alive as the teams prepare for the remaining matches of the tour.
