A fresh bout of gunfire was reported in Noney district on Thursday, a day after a clash between rival ZUF-Jenchui and ZUF-Kamson factions resulted in one fatality.

Local residents heard repeated bursts of automatic fire and saw smoke rising from several villages in the area. The latest shooting follows a clash that took place yesterday between the ZUF-Jenchui and ZUF-Kamson factions. That encounter left one cadre dead and several others injured, escalating tensions that have plagued the region for months.
Manipur police and the state’s paramilitary forces were dispatched to the scene within hours. Officials set up checkpoints, conducted house-to-house searches, and urged civilians to stay indoors while the situation is assessed.
