Three Indian states have announced a hike in their Dearness Allowance to 63% as a pre‑Diwali measure, aiming to ease the cost of living for government employees.

The governments of Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh have jointly announced a 63% Dearness Allowance (DA) for their employees, effective from the beginning of December. The move is intended to counter rising inflation and provide relief to public servants ahead of the festive season. The DA hike will be reflected in the monthly salaries of all government employees in the three states. Officials say the increase will help offset higher prices of essential goods during the Diwali celebrations.
