The Gujarat government has introduced the country’s first air‑conditioned Vista Dome buses, aiming to enhance tourist experiences across the state.
Gujarat’s tourism department rolled out the nation’s inaugural air‑conditioned Vista Dome buses on Monday, marking a first for Indian state‑run transport services. The new fleet, equipped with panoramic glass roofs and climate‑controlled interiors, is intended to provide a comfortable, scenic travel option for visitors touring the state’s heritage sites and natural attractions.
The buses are slated to operate on key tourist corridors linking major destinations such as the Rann of Kutch, Gir National Park and historic Ahmedabad. Officials said the dome design offers unobstructed views of the landscape, while the AC system ensures comfort in the region’s varied climate.
State officials expect the initiative to attract more domestic and international tourists, thereby generating additional revenue for local economies. The launch also aligns with Gujarat’s broader strategy to modernise its tourism infrastructure and position the state as a premium travel destination in India.
The first set of Vista Dome buses will be deployed on a trial basis for the upcoming festive season, after which the government plans to expand the fleet based on passenger response and operational data.
