Gujarat Targets 250 Billion Units of Power Demand by 2035-36

The state has set a target of 250 billion units (BU) of electricity demand for the fiscal year 2035-36, a move aimed at ensuring energy security for its growing industrial base. The plan, unveiled by the Gujarat Energy Department, calls for a mix of coal, natural gas and renewable projects to meet the projected demand. It also includes upgrading transmission lines and modernising grid infrastructure to reduce losses. The government expects the new capacity to support the state’s ambitious industrial expansion and to keep power tariffs stable for consumers.
