The Gujarat education department has instructed all schools to tighten entry protocols, prohibit photography on premises and implement measures to protect students' personal information.
The state education authority in Gujarat issued a circular directing every school to adopt stricter entry controls. Under the new guidelines, schools must verify the identity of all visitors at the gate, maintain a log of entries and exits, and restrict access to the campus for unauthorised persons.
Photographic activity inside school premises is now prohibited unless expressly authorised by the school administration. Signage indicating the ban will be displayed at entry points and classrooms to ensure compliance.
In addition, schools are required to review and upgrade their data handling practices. This includes securing student records, limiting access to personal information, and obtaining parental consent before any data is shared with third‑party services. The department has asked schools to submit compliance reports within the next 30 days.
Officials said the measures aim to enhance safety, protect privacy and align Gujarat’s schools with emerging data‑protection standards across India.
