The Gujarat government announced a ₹1,000 crore subsidy to promote rooftop solar installations for residential, commercial and institutional users.
Gujarat's state government unveiled a ₹1,000 crore financial incentive aimed at accelerating rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) installations across the state.
The scheme will cover a broad spectrum of consumers – from households to commercial complexes and public institutions – offering subsidies that will be released in phased tranches based on defined eligibility criteria.
Officials highlighted that the initiative dovetails with Gujarat's target of achieving a 30% renewable‑energy mix by 2030, and it is expected to spur job creation in solar manufacturing, installation and maintenance.
The announcement was made at a press conference attended by the chief minister and the energy minister, who urged citizens and businesses to adopt solar power to lower electricity bills and support climate‑friendly goals.
