A Gujarat resident who invested over Rs 6 crore in a stock‑trading scheme was defrauded, losing roughly Rs 4 crore, India Today reports.

A man from Gujarat placed more than Rs 6 crore into what was presented as a stock‑trading opportunity. Investigations later revealed the scheme to be fraudulent, resulting in a loss of about Rs 4 crore for the investor.

The scam involved the creation of fake trading platforms that misled the victim into believing he was buying legitimate securities. The false promises of high returns prompted the substantial outlay before the deception was uncovered.

India Today highlighted the case, underscoring the growing risk of online financial frauds targeting unsuspecting investors. Law enforcement agencies have been urged to probe the perpetrators and to raise public awareness about due diligence in stock market investments.

Financial regulators have repeatedly warned investors to verify the authenticity of trading entities and to avoid unregistered brokers. The incident serves as a reminder of the need for heightened vigilance in the rapidly expanding digital investment space.
