The Gujarat High Court began using its own electronic filing platform, aiming to streamline case management.

The Gujarat High Court commenced operation of an internally developed e‑filing system on Thursday, marking a shift from the previously used external platforms. The new system allows lawyers and litigants to submit pleadings, documents and applications electronically directly to the court's servers. Court officials said the move is intended to reduce paperwork, cut processing time and improve transparency in judicial proceedings. By handling filings in‑house, the High Court expects better control over data security and the ability to customize features to suit its procedural rules. The rollout is part of a broader digital transformation agenda across Indian courts aimed at enhancing efficiency and access to justice.

The platform has been built by the court's own IT department, leveraging open‑source tools and adhering to national e‑court standards. Training sessions were conducted for senior advocates and court staff ahead of the launch to ensure smooth adoption. While the system is now live for new filings, existing cases will continue to be processed through the older channels until a complete migration is feasible.

Legal practitioners across Gujarat have welcomed the development, noting that real‑time acknowledgment of submissions and reduced physical visits to the registry could significantly lower costs and delays. The High Court will monitor the system's performance over the coming weeks and may introduce further enhancements based on user feedback.
