Heavy rains in Gujarat have caused widespread flooding, resulting in 35 fatalities and the rescue of more than 7,000 people across several districts in just 48 hours.
Heavy monsoon rains have inundated large parts of Gujarat, creating flash floods that swept through several districts. The National Disaster Response Force and local authorities report 35 confirmed deaths and the rescue of over 7,000 residents from submerged homes.
Rescue teams, including the Indian Army and state police, worked round the clock, using boats and helicopters to reach isolated villages. Thousands of people were moved to temporary shelters in nearby towns.
The state government has declared a state of emergency in affected areas, set up relief camps, and distributed food, water and medical supplies to the displaced.
