Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted a ground‑breaking ceremony for Hitachi Energy’s new transformer plant in Karjan, a project valued at ₹2,000 crore.
The ceremony took place on Thursday in the industrial town of Karjan, near Vadodara, marking the start of construction for a new transformer manufacturing facility. Hitachi Energy, a global leader in power electronics, will invest ₹2,000 crore to build the plant, which is expected to produce high‑efficiency transformers for India’s growing power grid. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel lit the ceremonial lamp and delivered a brief speech, emphasizing the project’s role in boosting local employment and strengthening the state’s industrial base. The factory is slated to begin operations by 2026, with a workforce of around 1,200 workers. The event was attended by senior officials from Hitachi Energy, Gujarat’s Department of Industries, and local representatives.
