The Guardian has reviewed Amazon’s new series ‘The Greatest’, describing it as a solid production but noting that the story of Muhammad Ali feels over‑told.
The Guardian published a review of Amazon Prime Video’s latest biographical series, "The Greatest", which chronicles the life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The review praises the series’ production values, strong performances and detailed period recreations. However, it argues that the narrative arc is familiar, following a conventional rise‑to‑glory template that has been used in many sports biopics.
The reviewer notes that while the series offers fresh insights into Ali’s personal struggles, it ultimately falls into a predictable pattern of triumph, adversity and redemption. The Guardian’s assessment suggests that fans looking for a novel perspective on the icon may find the story somewhat repetitive.
Despite the critique, the review acknowledges that "The Greatest" remains a worthwhile watch for its high‑quality storytelling and the compelling portrayal of Ali’s complex personality. The series is available on Amazon Prime Video worldwide.
