Grand Teachers’ Day Celebration Held in Jalahalli by Federation of Private Educational Institutions
Awards Presented to Best Teachers; Demand for ₹5 Lakh Insurance Cover for Private School Teachers
Jalahalli, Sept. 19: The 2026–27 Teachers’ Day celebration and Best Teacher Awards ceremony, organised by the Federation of Private Educational Institutions (Regd.), Raichur, and Devadurga Taluk Unit, was held grandly at Jalahalli town in Devadurga taluk of Raichur district on Saturday.
The programme began at 10.30 a.m. with a procession from Basaveshwara Circle carrying the portrait of former President and eminent educationist Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The procession proceeded to the Sri Jagadaradhya Jayashantalingeshwar Cooperative Auditorium on Tintini Bridge Road.
A large number of teachers from private educational institutions across Raichur district, educationists, students and admirers participated in the procession.
The main programme began with devotional songs. Vivekananda H.K., special lecturer from Bengaluru, delivered a special lecture on the role and responsibilities of teachers in the education sector and their importance in shaping the future of students.
Demand for ₹5 Lakh Insurance for Private Teachers
In his introductory address, Nagaraj Maski, General Secretary of the Raichur District unit of the Federation of Private Educational Institutions, said that the organisation has been recognising and honouring teachers who render distinguished service in the district every year.
Referring to the initiative undertaken by Sindhanur MLA Basanagouda Badarli to distribute kits to private educational institutions in Sindhanur taluk under KKRDB funds, he urged the government to introduce a similar scheme and provide ₹5 lakh insurance coverage to each teacher working in private educational institutions across the district through KKRDB funds.
He also pointed out that a student from a private educational institution in Manvi taluk had scored 625 out of 625 marks and was honoured by the government, but the teachers responsible for the student’s achievement did not receive adequate recognition. He urged the government to address such disparities.
MLA Karemma G. Nayak Assures Support
The programme was inaugurated by Devadurga MLA Karemma G. Nayak by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that the government’s attention would be drawn towards the safety, welfare and security of teachers working in private educational institutions and efforts would be made to take necessary measures.
She assured that steps would be taken to provide facilities to private educational institutions through special grants that may be made available in the future.
She also said that discussions would be held with the concerned officials regarding the construction of a dedicated building for private educational institutions under the federation and necessary action would be initiated.
Focus on Moral Values in Education
Sri Jayashantalingeshwar Shivacharya Mahaswamiji, who graced the programme with his divine presence, said that schools should give equal importance to moral education along with academic knowledge.
He suggested that MLAs should put pressure on the government to provide grants for the development of private educational institutions. He also urged the government to provide necessary assistance without discrimination while allocating grants to educational institutions.
Badarli Hampanagowda: Focus Needed on Skill Development
Presiding over the programme, Badarli Hampanagowda, Raichur President of the Federation of Private Educational Institutions and MLA, said that private educational institutions should adapt to changing times and encourage innovation.
He stressed the need to give greater importance to skill development among students. He said the government was taking steps to establish skill development institutions and that such institutions were already functioning in Sindhanur and rural Raichur.
He said steps would be taken to establish skill development institutions in other areas as well in the coming days.
He suggested that special grants should be provided to private educational institutions to establish specialised training centres. Private educational institutions should submit requests to their respective MLAs and seek special grants, he added.
He also assured that the demand for ₹5 lakh insurance coverage for private school teachers would be brought to the government’s attention and efforts would be made to secure insurance through KKRDB funds.

Teachers from across Raichur district who rendered distinguished service during the 2026–27 academic year were identified and honoured with awards.
The first prize at the district level was presented to Mrs. Shagufta Begum, a teacher at Sunshine School, Sindhanur.
A total of 94 district-level teachers were honoured with awards.
At the taluk level, teachers who rendered outstanding service were also recognised and felicitated.
The first prize at the taluk level was presented to Mr. Sunil Kumar, teacher at National Higher Primary School, Hoovinahadagali.
A total of 50 teachers were honoured at the taluk level.
