The government has introduced the 'JK Karigari' initiative to bring authentic handicrafts from Jammu & Kashmir to national and global markets.
The government has rolled out the ‘JK Karigari’ scheme to promote the Union Territory’s rich handicraft heritage. The initiative aims to connect local artisans with buyers across India and abroad, offering marketing support, training and access to digital platforms. By showcasing products such as Pashmina shawls, embroidered shawls, wood carvings and handloom textiles, the programme seeks to boost income for craftsmen while preserving traditional techniques. Officials said the scheme will include exhibitions, e-commerce portals and collaboration with export promotion agencies to widen reach.
