The government announced a cut of ₹5 per litre in the export duty on diesel and ₹1 per litre on petrol, while stating that retail fuel prices will remain unchanged.

The Union government has reduced the export duty on diesel by ₹5 per litre and on petrol by ₹1 per litre, according to an official statement released today.

Despite the duty reduction, the government clarified that retail prices of diesel and petrol at petrol pumps will not be altered, ensuring no immediate impact on consumers.

Analysts say the lower export duty could make Indian diesel and petrol more price‑competitive in global markets, potentially boosting overseas shipments while keeping domestic rates steady.
