The central government has announced the creation of a dedicated task force to monitor rising temperatures and water availability across the country.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has set up a task force to track the impact of heat waves and water shortages nationwide. The body will collate data from meteorological departments, water authorities and local governments to assess trends and recommend mitigation measures. Its mandate includes identifying regions most vulnerable to extreme heat and advising on water management strategies. The government expects the task force to provide quarterly reports to help policymakers plan adaptive measures for agriculture, health and infrastructure.
