The Union government has announced the appointment of three additional members to the Reserve Bank of India's Central Board, expanding its composition.
The Ministry of Finance disclosed that three individuals have been appointed as new members of the Reserve Bank of India's Central Board. The decision was communicated as part of the government's effort to strengthen the board's expertise and representation.
The Central Board of Directors is the apex decision‑making body of the RBI, responsible for formulating monetary policy, overseeing banking regulation and guiding the institution's strategic direction. Adding three members is expected to broaden the range of professional experience contributing to these critical functions.
The appointments will be formalised through an official notification from the RBI, and the newly appointed members will assume their duties in accordance with the bank's statutes and prevailing governance norms.
