The central government has outlined a plan to launch ten cultural programmes aimed at supporting and showcasing local artists across the country.
New Delhi — The Union Ministry of Culture disclosed a slate of ten cultural programmes designed to nurture talent and provide performance platforms for artists rooted in regional traditions. The initiative, unveiled during a press briefing, targets musicians, dancers, painters and craftspersons operating outside mainstream urban circuits.
Each programme will receive dedicated funding, logistical assistance and promotional support, with a focus on preserving indigenous art forms while encouraging contemporary expressions. The government plans to partner with state cultural departments, NGOs and private sponsors to ensure a wide geographic reach.
Officials said the scheme aims to create sustainable livelihoods for creators, boost cultural tourism and strengthen India's soft power abroad. Implementation is slated to begin in the upcoming fiscal year, with periodic reviews to assess impact and allocate resources accordingly.
