A national report cited by The Times of India shows that doctoral enrolment in Goa has increased fourfold in the last five years.
The Times of India reported that a recent national study found a four‑fold rise in the number of PhD candidates enrolling in Goa’s higher‑education institutions over the past five years.
The report, which surveyed state universities and research institutes, highlights a significant uptick in doctoral programmes across the state.
Experts say the growth reflects increased investment in research infrastructure and a broader push for advanced studies in Goa.
The finding underscores the state’s emerging role as a hub for academic research within India.
