Goa joins Guinness World Record bid at Konkani music convention in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Karnataka, witnessed the inauguration of a large‑scale Konkani music convention on Tuesday. Organisers have outlined an ambitious plan to secure a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous performance of Konkani songs. In a notable development, the state of Goa confirmed its involvement, pledging musicians and resources to help achieve the target.

The convention, which brings together artists, cultural groups and enthusiasts from across the Konkan belt, aims to showcase the region's rich musical heritage. Participants are scheduled to perform a continuous repertoire of traditional and contemporary Konkani pieces, adhering to the stringent guidelines set by Guinness World Records.

Goa's decision to join the bid underscores the collaborative spirit among coastal states to promote their shared language and culture on a global platform. Officials from both states said the effort will not only highlight Konkani music but also boost tourism and cultural exchange in the region.

Guinness officials are expected to monitor the event to verify compliance with record‑setting criteria. The convention is slated to run for several days, with the final outcome to be announced after the performances conclude.
