The environmental NGO Goa Foundation has urged the National Tiger Conservation Authority to suspend all nods for the Tamnar project located in a proposed tiger reserve in Chhattisgarh.

Goa Foundation, a non‑governmental organisation focused on environmental protection, has formally appealed to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) to halt any further approvals for the TamTam project. The appeal cites the project's location within the boundaries of a proposed tiger reserve in Chhattisgarh, raising concerns over potential disruption to tiger habitat and associated wildlife.

In its communication, the foundation urged NTCA to exercise its statutory powers to suspend the nods already granted to the Tamnar project until a comprehensive ecological assessment is completed. The NGO highlighted that the area is earmarked for tiger conservation under the national tiger strategy, and any development activity could undermine those objectives.

NTCA, the apex body responsible for tiger conservation across India, has not yet issued a public response. The agency is expected to review the request and consider whether the project aligns with the conservation goals of the proposed reserve.

The move reflects growing scrutiny of development projects in ecologically sensitive zones, especially those that intersect with India's network of tiger reserves.

Stakeholders, including local communities and wildlife experts, have been urged to monitor the situation as the NTCA deliberates on the foundation's plea.
