In Goa, 88 of 97 voters who were omitted from the electoral roll have filed Form 6 to request inclusion, and the Election Commission has accepted their applications.
The Goa State Election Commission (SEC) has been embroiled in a dispute over the inclusion of voters who were omitted from the electoral roll, a situation that has come to be known as the 'SIR row'.
According to the latest filings, 97 voters were left out of the roll for the upcoming elections. Of those, 88 have now submitted Form 6, the official application for inclusion.
The Election Commission has accepted all 88 applications, a decision that will see the affected voters added to the roll ahead of the scheduled polls.
The move is expected to broaden the electorate in several constituencies and may influence the outcome of the forthcoming elections, though the SEC has not yet announced the final updated roll.
