Goa’s tourism board reports 61 lakh visitors in the first seven months of the year, with a significant rise in winter bookings. The surge reflects growing interest in the state’s beaches and cultural festivals.

The state tourism department announced that Goa welcomed 61 lakh visitors from January to July, a figure that surpasses many previous years’ totals for the same period. The influx includes both domestic and international travelers, with a noticeable uptick in bookings for the winter season.

Officials attribute the rise to a combination of factors, including improved connectivity from major Indian metros, promotional campaigns highlighting Goa’s heritage and beach resorts, and the popularity of winter festivals such as the Goa Carnival and music events.

Hotel chains and travel agencies across the state reported higher occupancy rates and an increase in advance bookings, especially for the months of December and January. The tourism board also noted a rise in longer stays, with many visitors opting for week‑long packages.

While the data underscores Goa’s resilience as a tourist destination, authorities are working on infrastructure upgrades to accommodate the growing number of visitors and ensure sustainable tourism practices.
