The municipal administration in Gmada has served notices to several illegal colonies, demanding regularisation or demolition.

The municipal body of Gmada, a town in Punjab, has launched a crackdown on unauthorised residential settlements. Notices have been served to owners and occupants of multiple illegal colonies, instructing them to either regularise the plots according to statutory norms or face demolition.

The notices, posted on the municipal office’s official portal and displayed at the colony entry points, specify a compliance deadline of 30 days. Failure to act within this period will attract penalties as per the Punjab Urban Planning Act.

Officials said the move aims to curb unplanned urban sprawl and ensure that basic civic amenities are extended only to legally recognised areas. Similar actions have been reported in other parts of the state, reflecting a broader effort to enforce land‑use regulations.

The municipal commissioner urged residents to cooperate and seek clarification from the town’s planning department to avoid legal repercussions.
