Giant Crocodile Strays onto Damoh Road, Rope Mishap Injures Two

A large crocodile emerged from a field onto a road in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, got tangled in ropes and escaped, causing panic and injuring two people.
Damoh authorities reported that a massive crocodile, estimated to be several metres long, left a nearby agricultural field and entered a public road early Tuesday. Witnesses said the animal moved slowly before becoming entangled in a bundle of ropes that were being used for nearby construction work.
When the ropes snapped, the crocodile broke free, startling motorists and pedestrians. In the ensuing chaos, two individuals attempting to intervene were bitten, sustaining injuries that required medical attention.
Local police and forest officials arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and began a coordinated effort to capture the reptile safely. The injured parties were taken to the district hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.
The incident has prompted calls for increased monitoring of wildlife near agricultural zones in the region, as well as public awareness campaigns on how to respond to unexpected animal encounters on roads.
