A gas leak from a GAIL pipeline prompted authorities to divert traffic on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra, with sections temporarily closed for safety checks.

Earlier today, a leak was detected in a GAIL natural gas pipeline that runs alongside the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra. The breach released gas into the surrounding area, prompting immediate safety measures.

State officials ordered the closure of the affected stretch of the expressway and set up a diversion route to maintain traffic flow. Motorists were directed to use alternative highways while emergency crews worked to contain the leak.

No injuries or casualties have been reported so far. GAIL engineers, along with local authorities, are conducting a thorough inspection to assess the extent of the damage and to ensure the pipeline is secured before normal traffic resumes.

The diversion is expected to remain in place until the leak is fully repaired and safety clearances are obtained. Commuters are advised to check real‑time traffic updates before planning their journeys.
