The Ganga river in Badahara block of Bhojpur district has surged 43 cm above the danger mark, submerging fields, rural roads and threatening livestock fodder in more than thirty villages.
The water level of the Ganga in Badahara block, Bhojpur district, Bihar, has risen to 43 centimetres above the officially declared danger mark, according to the state’s flood monitoring agency. The surge has turned the river’s banks into a fast‑moving floodplain, prompting authorities to issue an emergency alert for the area.
Dozens of villages across the block are now under water. Agricultural fields are inundated, and many village roads have become impassable, cutting off residents from markets and health centres. The flooding has also submerged stored fodder, creating an immediate crisis for livestock owners who rely on these reserves during the lean season.
Local officials are conducting ground surveys and have begun coordinating relief measures, including the deployment of sandbags and temporary shelters. While rescue teams stand by, the situation remains fluid as the river continues to swell, and further rises could exacerbate the damage.
The state disaster management department has urged villagers to relocate to higher ground and to avoid crossing flooded roads. Relief agencies are preparing to distribute emergency food packets and animal feed once the water recedes.
