On Monday, Bhopal witnessed vibrant religious celebrations as Ganesh Chaturthi and Hartalika Teej coincided, with idols installed in homes and pandals and women observing fast at Shiva temples.
Bhopal’s residents marked a rare confluence of two major Hindu festivals on Monday. At the auspicious muhurat, families and community groups installed Ganesh idols in their homes and temporary pandals, invoking the deity’s blessings for the coming year.
Simultaneously, the city’s Shiva temples were thronged by women observing Hartalika Teej. Devotees kept a strict fast, known as nirjala vrat, and offered prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, seeking marital bliss and longevity.
The twin celebrations highlighted the city’s cultural vibrancy, with streets adorned in floral rangoli, devotional music, and the aroma of traditional sweets. Local authorities reported smooth crowd management and no major disturbances during the festivities.
