Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled a Rs 40 billion package to upgrade and expand road infrastructure across Goa.

New Delhi – Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced a comprehensive road‑development programme for the state of Goa, earmarking Rs 40 billion for the project. The package will fund the construction of new highways, widening of existing arterial roads, and the implementation of safety upgrades on critical stretches.

The initiative aims to improve connectivity between major tourist hubs, industrial zones and rural areas, thereby boosting the state's economy and easing traffic congestion during peak seasons. Officials expect the projects to be executed over a five‑year horizon, with a mix of public funding and private‑sector participation.

State officials welcomed the announcement, noting that the infusion of capital aligns with Goa's broader infrastructure goals and could generate substantial employment opportunities in construction and ancillary services. Detailed project lists and timelines are slated to be released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in the coming weeks.
