During Naxal Week, police and CRPF forces in Gadchiroli recovered 14 firearms and several explosives hidden by Maoists.
In a coordinated operation, officers from the Gadchiroli police department and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) uncovered a cache of 14 firearms and multiple explosive devices concealed by Maoist insurgents. The discovery was made during the annual Naxal Week, a period when security forces intensify patrols across the region.
The seized weapons, which included rifles and ammunition, were found in a hidden bunker near a forested area of the district. Authorities also recovered several improvised explosive devices that had been prepared for use against security personnel.
Local officials said the find underscores the persistent threat posed by Maoist groups in the Vidarbha region and the importance of joint operations between state police and central forces. The recovered arms will be forwarded to the state weapons disposal unit for safe handling.
